Electric Vehicle (EV) Planning with Local Governments and Local Utilities

Electric Vehicle (EV) Planning with Local Governments and Local Utilities

This project aims to reduce infrastructure costs and accelerate EV adoptions. The Energy Council looks to support governing bodies and publicly owned utilities in considering innovative programs to support transportation and reduce the costs of electrification. Examples for municipalities include requiring vehicle or bike charging in right of ways, lamp posts, or multifamily dwellings when under development.

Gorge Transit Strategy

Gorge Transit Strategy

The Gorge Transit Strategy is a collaborative planning process to create a shared vision for coordinated public transportation in a five-county region in the Mid-Columbia River Gorge. This effort is led by the Gorge Translink Alliance, which brings together five regional transit agencies: Columbia Area Transit (Hood River County), The Link (Wasco County), Sherman County Community Transit, Mt. Adams Transportation Services (Klickitat County), and Skamania County Public Transit

The Gorge Transit Strategy is available as of June 2023. Read the strategy here. The Hood River County Energy Council contributed to this strategy through the Stakeholder Advisory  Group (STAG).

Next, the Mid-Columbia Economic Development District has received funding from ODOT and has a pending grant with WSDOT to support implementation of the Gorge Transit Strategy, including convening a Regional Transit Advisory Board.
